Jon Lam – Artist Profile

 

Jon Lam is a Malaysian born Australian visual artist whose career spans more than four decades. He blends traditional and multimedia painting with mural work, solo exhibitions and group shows.Drawing on his practice of Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, Qigong, and Tai Chi, Lam’s work reflects a deep engagement with philosophy and lived experience.

 

He works across oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastel, and pen and ink, painting landscapes, streetscapes, portraits, and still life.

Often painting en plein air, he captures the immediacy and spirit of place with expressive impact.

 

Lam has held thirteen solo exhibitions and is celebrated for his murals, including a prizewinning work in Rochester and a large-scale mural in Smythesdale for the Woardy Yaloak Historical Society.

 

A past president of the Whitehorse Arts Society, Lam is currently the Second Vice President of the Ballarat Society of Artists, a member of Ballarat Arts Alive and the Contemporary Arts Society of Victoria.
